Magic Johnson once said, “Life doesn’t stop because something happens to you.”

Very few quotes are as befitting to the life of Fabrice Gautier, not only because he is such a big fan of Magic’s basketball career, but because he didn’t let a sports injury deter the path he was meant to take. And what an amazing path it has been so far!

That path has led Fabrice to trusted advisory roles with exciting, innovative companies like Dr. Smood, an organic food brand who just recently partnered with actor Michael B. Jordan to create a sea moss juice beverage. Fabrice is also working with Waff, a work-out tool that is proudly used by LeBron James, among many other elite athletes. But as impressive as this work is, what is truly amazing about Fabrice is his own personal journey of vision, relentless determination and experience that has brought him to where he is today.

Having grown up in France, Fabrice was always both a fan and a player. He proved extreme talent in multiple sports and excelled in nearly every competitive game he played. But he knew that in order to have the best chance of maintaining athletic aptitude, he would need to understand exactly how his gifts functioned. The way in which the body strengthens, heals and rejuvenates for peak performance has been just as fascinating to Fabrice as the game itself.

So he began his studies in physical therapy and osteopathy, which he says each have an important role in the process of keeping bodies healthy. Fabrice explains, “Physical therapy is working on the consequence. In osteopathy, you’re working on the causes of the problem.” He is drawn to both. “What makes me a little different from some other therapists in the field is that I have those two hats. I can be the body mechanic and realign the body. But I can also teach and plant the seed to understand what needs to be done in terms of rehab or strength and conditioning.”

As Fabrice was becoming extremely accomplished as a therapist to athletes, this didn’t stop his own athletic journey. After working with a French rugby team, he was asked to join the team and play semi-professionally. This further proves that wherever Fabrice sets his focus, he won’t stop until it’s as close to perfection as possible.

He moved to Los Angeles in 1999 with his wife Alexandra. They opened up LA Main Physical Therapy in 2003 and began to, bit by bit, build a client base full of some of the most top-rated, A-list stars in history. That list includes Rudy Gobert, Terrell Owens, Tony Parker, Kevin Love and also expands to non sports-related superstars, like Usher.

It took a little time to build that roster, though. After befriending French basketball player Ronny Turiaf, who had been drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, he was introduced to Boris Diaw and Tony Parker. From there, Fabrice shares, “I became the osteopath of the French basketball team. They won the European championship and went to the Olympics, even taking home the Silver medal this year. Meanwhile, I also started seeing some American players. Over the last twenty years, I’ve been working with some of the best athletes in the world in a lot of different sports, not just basketball.”

One such athlete is Olympic Gold-medal winner Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone, who broke the world record at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the 400 hurdle. She also took the Gold for the 4x400m relay with the rest of her USA track team. Fabrice has been working with Sydney for the past two years and says he is looking forward to watching her thrive in 2028.

Part of what makes his practice so successful is that Fabrice remains grounded, even when working with some of the biggest celebrities imaginable. However, when working at such a top-shelf level, it was important that he surround himself with trustworthy, top-shelf advisors, as well. The stars aligned when attorney Jerome Fogel was referred to Fabrice’s practice by renowned nutritionist Dr. Goglia to help him recover from a car accident. It just so happens that Jerome, a former athlete, is a partner alongside Constantine Potamianos in the law firm Fogel and Potamianos LLP (F&P). Fabrice agreed. While he was happy with the work he was doing, he decided it was time to level up. He met with Jerome who took a look at what was coming down the pipeline. So when I come across people who have the courage to do the right thing and are sourcing the right products, it resonates. They align with a charitable purpose, trying to help and educate. And last but not least, it has to deliver results.” He adds, “The amount of effort being done to try to make a product as close to perfect as possible really resonates with me because that’s what I see in my athletes. They’re always working to be the best they can.”

And at the end of the day, get a better deal for everyone!”

Fabrice has so much in store for the future, and much like an Olympic athlete in training, he is always looking forward to the next four years. And while he shares his unwavering pride for his athletes at the Olympic Games, the next four years will include more of his business ventures and brand building. “We have a rehab machine coming. It’s a younger French physical therapist/osteopath who reminds me of me when I was younger. And he works in football (soccer) with French players. He invented that machine and we’re going to bring it to the U.S.”

They are working on many other licensing deals with creators with the goal of negotiating contracts with big organizations like the NBA. Fabrice sums it up, “At the end of the day, the best quality of a player is to be available and that’s how they can sign those big contracts. Same thing when it comes to investments, or partnerships or advisory deals. It’s instinct, common sense and trying to digest what makes sense.”
